Memoir by Asheville, NC author tells how she overcame depression and discovered she’s psychic.

Asheville, NC July 15, 2004 -- Feeling worthless and empty ever since she was a teenager, Sherry Binkelman, author of the recently-released memoir, Blindsided by Destiny: The True Story of a Reluctant Psychic, grew up believing life to be a bleak struggle and joyless chore. She completed her master’s degree at the University of Michigan struggling to smile and look like everyone else. After she married and moved halfway around the world to Saudi Arabia with her dentist husband, even the birth of a child failed to bring peace or purpose to her life. Depression followed her to the desert and no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t feel good about herself.

After her husband left her for another woman, Binkelman’s already-unstable mood spiraled downward into an immobilizing desolation. Only then did she begin to realize she’d been suffering from depression for almost 25 years. Soon after seeking treatment for her illness, Binkelman learned that one of the major contributors to her depression was her psychic gift.
